7 essential products for my everyday makeup

I haven’t found an interesting product to review recently so I decided to tell what I use for creating my everyday makeup. You’ve asked me about the secret of my day-to-day look so I guess you like the effect. I’m glad to hear that and that’s why I’d love to reveal this secret.

What is my go-to makeup like?

I know there are bloggers who spend long hours applying makeup, using tons of beauty products. Unlike them, I prefer a minimalist approach because makeup overload doesn’t benefit skin, let alone my easily irritated, reactive skin.

That’s why I go for simplicity in makeup, choose tried and tested products and simple solutions. I try to show everybody that you can have a pretty makeup that enhances your assets and camouflages imperfections without using a few dozens of different cosmetics. I love natural, unexaggerated makeup which neither covers up the entire face nor leaves you with a cake-face effect but it brings out natural beauty, that is your best features. To me this is what makeup is all about.

7 makeup products that I’m big on

I use this article to convince you that seven products are more than enough for creating flawless makeup. They just need to be high quality to give desired result and serve us the longest.

See my makeup must-haves below! It isn’t orderly because I put things that came to my mind first on the top of the list.

1. ALMOND OIL

Taken aback? An oil for makeup might be surprising but it’s not a mistake. To me makeup cannot exist without a natural oil. Nanoil Sweet Almond Oil is my favorite – cold-pressed, unrefined oil extracted from sweet almonds. What I use it for? Literally, for everything:

  • when you apply it prior to makeup, it makes a perfect base.
  • a drop of oil mixed with foundation gives the product nourishing properties.
  • a bit of oil on the cheeks acts as a natural highlighter.
  • it is a great makeup removing oil (OCM).

2. BB CREAM

Let’s move on to typical makeup essentials. BB cream for a start. Why not foundation? Firstly, I’m not struggling with some big skin conditions so there’s not much to hide. Secondly, BB cream combines qualities of foundation and moisturizer – kill two birds with one stone. That’s the way I like it! Currently I’m into a very light Bourjois Healthy Mix BB Cream giving amazing coverage and the 100% natural look I love. I recommend it but I’m sure any other BB cream works great provided you customize it to your needs.

3. MASCARA

My makeup doesn’t exist without mascara because my natural lashes are very light-colored, short and thin. I don’t need full eye makeup but a good mascara makes a base of my go-to look. I try to choose natural products that don’t cause damage to my lashes but nourish them instead, and that’s why Lashcode Mascara is my top choice. Unlike most mascaras, it gives superb long-wear effect and is rich in conditioning substances.

4. EYE CONCEALER

If you think that I can do without a concealer you’re wrong. From time to time I have a bad skin day too, and this is when I reach for a remedy for dark circles, spots and other blemishes. I don’t use concealer palettes because I think that one product giving good coverage is more than enough. For the time being I stick to Bourjois Healthy Mix Anti-fatigue Concealer enriched with vitamin complex.

5. BLUSH

As far as my makeup essentials go, I must add a blush to the list. NABLA Blossom Blush Refill Harper is my fave – it subtly enhances the cheeks, ensures tridimensional makeup effect and makes face look healthy, radiant and very feminine.

6. TRANSLUCENT POWDER

I always use translucent powder from Laura Mercier for a finish touch. I know it’s one of the priciest powders but I believe it’s good value for money. It keeps my makeup long-wear so it doesn’t fade during a very busy day. Plus, I’m not worried about getting shiny skin after a few hours.

7. KOHL PENCIL

Eye pencil is my last (not least) makeup must-have. Not a random pencil! I recently started using kohl, that is a pencil based on black powder extracted from a blend of plants and herbs. This natural alternative gives intense color and blends easily so creating smokey eyes takes a couple of seconds. I use kohl instead of eyeliner, eyeshadow and even a brow pencil (mix it with some translucent powder to get a natural brow filler). I love it because nothing gives eyes as amazing definition as this simple product.
