3 stunning nails tips. Easy home nail care

You send me loads of private messages concerning nail care. To be honest, it doesn’t surprise me a bit because my hands appear frequently here on this blog; there are many pictures of my hands and in most cases they look good. I think I owe this to me being a kind of nail care and manicure freak <3

So this is the post where I’m going to share my tips for stunning nails. Do you want to know how to take care of fingernails to make them strong and full of shine? If so, you must go on reading this text! 🙂

Let me tell you a secret.

My nails didn’t use to be that strong and long. For a long part of my life I trimmed my nails short because they were brittle, soft and had this nasty tendency to split. I couldn’t paint them because the plate was uneven and ridged.

It all changed when I started eating more healthily and when I started paying attention to what I was putting onto my plate. And this is where my first tip comes up.

TIP NO 1. The food you eat has a massive impact on the state of nails. Make sure that your daily menu includes vitamins and minerals.

Okay, okay, right… but…

What should I eat to have strong nails?

In general, my diet hasn’t changed that much. I just introduced more vegetables and cereal products, e.g. wholegrain bread. I also pay more attention to the ingredients used in a particular food product to steer clear from these processed food products that are full of synthetic substances. Moreover, I try to drink more water which appears to be beneficial for my skin too – it’s prettier now. Another tip that I have for you, replace the unhealthy fats with the healthy ones – olive oil or rapeseed oil. Finally, I also cottoned to nuts, seeds and superfoods such as avocado, chia and goji berry.

However, if the wise nail care depended only on eating healthy food, this entry wouldn’t exist! It’s also worth understanding the causes that do damage to nails and – sadly – there are plenty of things that negatively influence the state of your fingernails.

TIP NO 2. You should protect the fingernails from the factors that affect them negatively.

Heh, I could spend hours enumerating all the negative factors that affect nails. However, I don’t think that making this post longer than it should be is a good idea, therefore I’ll just give you the basics, shall I?

Negative factors that affect nails:

  • poor diet (see above);
  • nail biting, which is my childhood nightmare;
  • detergents; if you clean up the house, do it only with gloves;
  • gel manicure, especially its unskillful removal;
  • keeping nails for too long in water (e.g. when you bathe);
  • filing wet nails with a poor quality file;
  • inadequate nail care.

Now, I’d like to draw your attention to the last point that I mentioned, that is inadequate nail care. From my own experience I can tell you that quite a number of girls experience this problem. I guess, you will agree with me when I say that we pay greater attention to the face or hair than to fingernails. But once neglected, it leads to brittleness and splitting.

The conclusion is simple 🙂

TIP NO 3. Daily nail care is essential. Keep your nails conditioned by using the right nail care products.

It’s time for the most important part of this post, which means that I’ll tell you this and that about my nail care routine. As you can see, the effects I achieved are pretty awesome, so I guess I’m doing it right.

The best tips for stunning nails

Apart from following a balanced diet, an equally important, or even more important issue concerns exposing nails to the right treatments, and this also includes use of appropriate nail care products. My nail care inventory comprises of three products:

  • NAIL CONDITIONER which in most cases has a form of a translucent varnish applied to the nail plate with a brush. In most cases they are effective but the very effectiveness depends on the ingredients used. Sadly, drugstores offer many nail conditioners that contain plenty of synthetic substances.
  • NATURAL BEAUTY OILS which are my beloved nail care products. Luckily, natural beauty oils are easy-accessible – you can get them in any drugstore. Also, they are frequently enriched with vitamins, but in general you can use regular oils that are unrefined and cold-pressed (I do like Nanoil oils – I have castor and sweet almond oil, both of which improve nails just incredibly well).
  • COSMETIC BUTTERS, or I should say, all cream-like products. Indeed, they are rather troublesome when it comes to their application due to the consistency. Therefore, I use them rarely, e.g. at bedtime. Of course, you can go for the all-natural cosmetic butter like Shea butter.

And this would be all when it comes to my stunning nail tips.

Okay, I’ll finish this post by giving you one last tip – NAIL SOAK. Such treatment regenerates nails in no time. I try to do it twice a month. How to prepare nail soak?

Regenerating nail soak (step by step)

  • Step 1. Get a bowl filled with warm water.
  • Step 2. Add 2 spoons of olive oil and 1 spoon of castor oil.
  • Step 3. If you care for lightening your nails up, add half lemon juice.
  • Step 4. Combine the ingredients and soak your nails.
  • Step 5. Keep your nails drown for 15 minutes.

You are good to go! 🙂

I hope that at least some of my tips for having stunning nails will be helpful for you. Please, let me know in the comments.
